प्रथम राष्ट्रपति का निर्वाचन : संविधान सभा की 24 जनवरी , 1950 की बैठक में डॉ . राजेन्द्र प्रसाद को निर्विरोध भारत का प्रथम राष्ट्रपति चुन लिया गया । डॉ . राजेन्द्र प्रसाद ने 26 जनवरी , 1950 को भारतीय गणतंत्र के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति के रूप में पदभार संभाला । राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए संविधान के अधीन विधिवत चुनाव मई , 1952 में हुए , | जिसमें डॉ . राजेन्द्र प्रसाद विजयी हुए । राष्ट्रपति के विधिवत द्वितीय निर्वाचन में भी डॉ . राजेन्द्र प्रसाद पुनः निर्वािचित हो गए । इस प्रकार डॉ . राजेन्द्र प्रसाद 26 जनवरी , 1950 से 13 मई , 1962 तक राष्ट्रपति पद पर रहे ।
