Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission 2026-27: Applications are invited for admission to Class 6 and Class 9 in Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) for the academic session 2026-27. These schools are fully residential and affiliated with CBSE. They are administered by the Ministry of Defence. Both boys and girls are eligible to apply.
There are a total of five Rashtriya Military Schools in India:
Origin: Founded in 1925 as King George’s Royal Indian Military Schools (KGRIMS), renamed to Rashtriya Military Schools in 2007.
Motto: “Sheelam Param Bhushanam” (Character is the Highest Virtue).
Mission: To provide holistic education with emphasis on discipline, patriotism, and preparing cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and other defence training institutions.

Rashtriya Military School Admission 2026-27 Age Limit
Class 6: Candidate’s age should be between 10 to 12 years as on 31 March 2026. (Date of birth between 01 April 2014 to 31 March 2016).
Class 9: Candidate’s age should be between 13 to 15 years as on 31 March 2026. (Date of birth between 01 April 2011 to 31 March 2013).
Relaxation: Children of war widows and battle casualties get 6 months age relaxation.

Medical Fitness
Candidates must be medically fit as per Defence standards. Tests include eyesight, hearing, and overall physical health, conducted at military hospitals.

Common Entrance Test (CET)
Interview – Candidates who qualify in the merit list will be called for an interview at RMS.
Medical Test – Successful candidates will undergo medical examination at Military Hospitals. Only medically fit candidates will be granted admission.
