India Post GDS Local Language Requirement
Knowledge of the prescribed local language is an important eligibility condition for GDS posts.

The application fee structure is as follows:

India Post GDS Selection Process 2026
There is no written examination or interview for the normal GDS selection process.
Candidates are shortlisted through a system-generated merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the 10th Standard/Secondary School Examination. Marks are aggregated into a percentage, including the prescribed conversion process where grades/points are applicable.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates will receive information through SMS/Email and will have to appear for physical verification of documents within the prescribed period.
After successful verification, a provisional engagement offer is issued, followed by the required pre-engagement formalities and final engagement process.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official GDS Online Engagement Portal.
Step 1: One-Time Registration

- Register using an active mobile number and email ID.
- Complete OTP verification.
- Enter personal details as mentioned in the 10th certificate.
- Save the system-generated registration number and password.
Candidates should enter their name, date of birth and other personal information exactly as mentioned in their Secondary School certificate.

- Login using the registration number and password.
- Enter personal and educational details.
- Select the appropriate Postal Circle and Division.

- Preview all details carefully.
- Pay the applicable fee.
- Submit the final application.
Only one registration/application per candidate is permitted. Duplicate registrations may result in cancellation of candidature.
